I grew up in the last century…a lot of things have changed…even long held definitions…including the word “gay.”
Officially still defined as synonymous with cheery, gleeful, jovial, lively, merry, lighthearted, sunny, sparkly, chipper, vivacious, playful, jaunty, sprightly, and blithe…I wouldn’t expect a good result trying to use the word in that context today!
Basically, happy is not gay anymore!
Over the years my circle of experience has enlarged, and now includes many individuals who have chosen the homosexual life. I’ve observed that none of these are truly “happy” in any sense of the definition.
Living on the outer edges of society, exposure to violence, relationship instability, physical, psychological, and spiritual stress…all contribute to overall unhappiness.
My first reaction, after learning that someone I know is “Gay,” has been, “Oh no, don’t do that!” Surprisingly, none have taken my advice!
“If we confess our sins, he is faithful and just to forgive us our sins and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness.” (I John 1:9/ESV)
