Silence of the Lambs

Four years ago, we enrolled our fifth grader in a Monday home-school group. The program included classes in Spanish, Math, Art, Gym, Music, and English. It looked like a great addition to our daughter’s homeschooling calendar.

All went well for a few weeks…then I ran into the problem! The director contacted every family, requesting that we refrain from speaking to one another about the children’s progress. Moms were not to ask the volunteers-of-the-day how their own children did…and were certainly not to offer any advice…that was strictly for the Director!

I had a big problem with those instructions and couldn’t stay in the program.

Last summer I joined a Iocal Tea Party. After posting a few blogs, I was asked to keep my comments attractive to everyone who might visit the site…to be careful not to offend those who don’t like “social issues” or quoting of Scripture.*

The Republican Party has a similar problem…controlling people! They can’t do it…but they continue to try!

Genuine Conservatives may not agree on all points, but one thing they do agree on…not going quietly!

“My people have been lost sheep. Their shepherds have led them astray, turning them away on the mountains. From mountain to hill they have gone. They have forgotten their fold.” (Jeremiah 50:6/ESV)

The purpose of this blog is to encourage Christ-followers to see God’s Big Picture and be a part of it!

*Sent Dec 7, 2012 from a local TP founder: “…We are not a “Christian group” and I don’t want those who do not agree with Christianity to feel it is being thrust in their faces. I am a Christian but we have to have people of all types here. I’ve had conversations with many members of differing faiths and no faiths about this issue. Some tea party groups are focused on Christianity but they become groups of strife as there are so many types of Christians.  They don’t grow and many are even disbanded.  We’ve actually reached people for Christ through this group the way it is. There are still some tea parties out there who do focus that way and I can give you the name of one if that is where you feel led.  We aren’t it. We’re focused on the Constitution as I believe God gave us the founders who had a Christian bias if not flat out Christians in most cases to give us our Constitution. But we have to stay focused there.”
