No Way Jose?

Our first-born was a beautiful baby…one of his first toddler phrases was, “No way Jose!”…to which we always laughed heartily!

Some of this country’s current immigration debate is being expressed in an angry version of my son’s baby-talk…”NO WAY JOSE!”

I have many friends in Mexico, Central, and South America who would love to bring their families to this country for security, medical care, religious freedom, education, and job advantages…but the US Immigration and Naturalization Service is nearly impenetrable!

The presidential election revealed a distinction in the Hispanic perception of Democrats and Republicans…an effort is ongoing to decipher the results.  One interpretation is, Hispanics want access to this nation…the party who gives that, will have their votes!

I encourage you to step back a few decades and remember what many of our grandparents went through to gain American freedom. My Grandfather arrived by boat at age sixteen. His family’s journey from the Netherlands was a typical immigrant story of those times. After arriving in New York they traveled to Michigan to join a Dutch-American community. They settled down and built families and businesses…becoming a blessing to this country.

When government fails to enforce legal, orderly immigration, it results in desperate chaos. Good people resort to lawbreaking and bad people are untraceable.

Millions of immigrants have been a blessing to this nation…we should encourage and accept as many as possible…of those who want to be Americans!

But if anyone has the world’s goods and sees his brother in need, yet closes his heart against him, how does God’s love abide in him?” (1 John 3:17/ESV)

The purpose of this blog is to encourage Christ-followers to see God’s Big Picture and be a part of it!
