Yesterday my dentist told me I was “tolerant”…able to withstand a bit more pain than the average patient. Of course I don’t like pain…but when I know it’s coming, I brace myself…become more accepting.
Tolerance has gotten me through some hard times, but it isn’t always good. If it causes a frozen-inaction in the face of injustice and bullying, it’s bad!
There is a place for tolerating the actions of others. At times we have all behaved in anger or ignorance. In these cases, forgiveness and grace are basic Christian principles, which we are commanded to offer to one another.
In the community called “Conservative” there is a LOT of intolerance…and it is holding us back from complete effectiveness! Too many place their personal egos before commendable goals. Some make valid points, dripping with sarcasm and hatred for all who question. Watch out if you express disagreement…you may be threatened with DEADLY consequences!
I want to be a part of the solution for the problems this great nation faces today. If possible, I will tolerate those who need a little more time to join that solution.
“He who justifies the wicked and he who condemns the righteous are both an abomination to the Lord.” (Proverbs 17:15/ESV)
