For those whose instincts are usually reliable…it is a rare occurrence to be fooled. But once trust is lost, it’s nearly impossible to get it back. Forever after, there is a doubt about harm-potential…you can never know for sure!
Then who can we trust? Scripture warns that the human heart is “desperately wicked”…and capable of anything!
I once witnessed an interview with an Atheist, who claimed that a serial killer was no “worse” than any of us. Ironically, his “proof” was the Ten Commandments. Just the fact that God gave mankind these Rules proves that all of us are capable of violating all of them! We are all potential serial killers!
If we are all every-evil-capable and can’t even “trust” ourselves, it seems hopeless that we could find someone else who is fully reliable.
“Trust, but verify”…was Reagan’s international policy. However, when applying this method to interpersonal relationships it’s more of a “hit or miss.” When it comes to trustworthiness, only Almighty God qualifies as 100%.
“The human heart is most deceitful and desperately wicked. Who really knows how bad it is?” (Jeremiah 17:9/NLT)
The purpose of this blog is to encourage Christ-followers to see God’s Big Picture and be a part of it!
