The Great Hypocrisy

By: Susan Bea Good

“We must do this for the children!”…an often heard sentiment from politicians today.  The current Congress is encouraging emotional pleas from Senators like Diane Feinstein…expressing personal abhorrence for the “evil of our time”…guns killing children!

According to the Children’s Defense Fund (founded the same year as the SCOTUS ruling on abortion), 116,385 children were killed by gun violence in America since records were kept, starting in 1979. You know where I’m going with this…

Abortion was ruled constitutional by the US Supreme Court on January 22 of 1973.  Since that ruling, there have been reported over 56 million unborn babies killed in this nation. None of these died by gun violence…all died by the will of their own mothers!

In the news lately, are many cases of “wrongful death” at the hands of abortionists.  The deaths deemed wrongful are not the unborn baby’s…they are the abortive mother’s deaths, after botched procedures.  I find it impossible to have sympathy for a woman who submits to the murder of her baby, and then unexpectedly dies herself. These women’s intent to kill…killed them!

These gruesome cases reflect our national condition.  As we continue to permit the destruction of human babies in the womb, we should also expect to be destroyed as a nation.

We mourn the death of any child, whether through gun violence or abortion. But there is a vast moral difference in the two…one is a crime and the other is not!  One is punished by society, but the other is promoted and protected!

We must immediately repent from this evil… asking for God’s cleansing and help to change the growing societal disregard for all human life.

Our national hypocrisy is great!  God has noticed!  We have not!

“Behold, the day of the Lord comes, cruel, with wrath and fierce anger, to make the land a desolation and to destroy its sinners from it. For the stars of the heavens and their constellations will not give their light; the sun will be dark at its rising, and the moon will not shed its light. I will punish the world for its evil, and the wicked for their iniquity; I will put an end to the pomp of the arrogant, and lay low the pompous pride of the ruthless.” (Isaiah 13:9-11/ESV)

The purpose of this blog is to encourage Christ-followers to see God’s Big Picture and be a part of it!
