Doomsday Prepped

By: Susan Bea Good

Are you prepared for hard times?  A cable show reveals the extreme measures some families take to be prepared for the coming “Doomsday”…or just a regional weather related power-loss.

This time of year always reminds me of the spring break of 1976. An early quick thaw, flooding our river, was followed by a freak ice-storm which froze everything…knocking out power the entire school break.  Without electricity, our home grew cold. We five children shivered and roasted “things” at the fireplace, just to stay occupied. On top of the boredom from lack of TV, my boyfriend announced he found another gal and broke up! We were not prepared for the challenges of that spring!

Since then, my worldview has expanded. I now view “prepping” in a different light…not candle or battery…but bibilical. Food, water, and bullets are a part of my family’s physical “emergency plan.” But far more important, is our plan to be ready spiritually.

We believe God’s Word. It warns that there will come a day when the whole world will be in such a great turmoil, that it will demand one leader…ushering in the true Doomsday.

My theology doesn’t allow me to be here for the hardest of those days…but in the times leading up to them, I want to be fully here!

I hope to be personally ready for God’s will…to face it with His grace and be able to help others receive His mercy, before it becomes too late!

“See that no one leads you astray. For many will come in My name, saying, ‘I am the Christ,’ and they will lead many astray. And you will hear of wars and rumors of wars. See that you are not alarmed, for this must take place, but the end is not yet. For nation will rise against nation, and kingdom against kingdom, and there will be famines and earthquakes in various places.  All these are but the beginning of the birth pains.” (Matthew 24;4-8/ESV)

The purpose of this blog is to encourage Christ-followers to see God’s Big Picture and be a part of it!
