Living and Dying for Us

jesus-on-crossBy: Susan Bea Good

Praying at Gethsemane…Jesus asked the Father if the price for sin could be paid in any other way. The answer was “No”…just hours later the Lamb went to the cross and completed the excruciating and humiliating purchase of our forgiveness.

Jesus sacrificed many years of living with us...finishing with the ultimate sacrifice of a few hours dying for us.

Many today question the necessity of that sacrifice. Though the “cup” could not be passed, Jesus’ death was the only way for our sins to be covered, today only the truly committed remain hung up on the cross of Christ.

Scripture warns that most will reject the Son’s payment for forgiveness. Mankind prefers to manufacture “other ways” to God…rejecting the Ones’ way. Scripture is clear that our way leads to eternal death. It is also clear that anyone who calls on the name of Jesus will be saved from sin’s punishment and enjoy eternal life!

“If you declare with your mouth, ‘Jesus is Lord,’ and believe in your heart that God raised Him from the dead, you will be saved. For it is with your heart that you believe and are justified, and it is with your mouth that you profess your faith and are saved.” (Romans 10:9-10/ESV)
