31 years ago I was very sick…my doctor’s nurse saw me on a Saturday. When it was obvious I needed admittance into the hospital, she stated that, when my Doctor found out, the “s” would be “hitting the fan!” I’m not sure why his reaction was going to be so strong…maybe my insurance didn’t cover all the care he was being forced to give to a high-risk pregnancy.
I do believe our national “fan” is about to be “hit”…with the big “S”…Social Issues! Many Conservatives downplay moral dilemmas…abortion and gay marriage…and try to divert our attention to more “lofty” arguments, such as fiscal policy and Islamic threats.
Strategists are failing to recognize that the weight of cultural disagreement on morality is gaining. Today it seems that many in conservative positions of leadership are surrendering social issues. Ohio Senator Rob Portman is one example…abandoning the defense of natural marriage, after his son declared his personal preference for a same-sex relationship.
Senator McCain admonished Republicans to stop focusing on social issues like abortion. Well, I guess the country isn’t listening to John McCain…not only is the abortion fight getting hotter every day…the Scotus is currently deliberating the defense of traditional marriage…decision expected in June.
These two social issues are not going away! Some of us knew that a long time ago… Scripture warns that these particular behaviors would mark the end of God’s patience with mankind… and usher in His final Kingdom plans.
I’m looking forward to His Kingdom, but not the immoral time before.
Conservatives must not ignore social issues…Liberals are not! They have been dedicated to abortion and homosexual promotion for decades. Public Schools are infiltrated with their agenda of anarchy against God’s Laws.
May true conservatives stay committed to the fight against immorality…Social issues are hitting the fan…and it’s gonna be a mess!
“Enter by the narrow gate. For the gate is wide and the way is easy that leads to destruction, and those who enter by it are many. For the gate is narrow and the way is hard that leads to life, and those who find it are few.” (Matthew 7:13-14/ESV)
