City on a Hill

By: Susan Bea Good

“City on a Hill” is a biblical concept describing the Christ-follower’s position, living in a world of sinners. The City can be seen from afar…shining brightly…overcoming the darkness. True followers of Jesus Christ are commanded to shine through living. This is not always easy to do.

Instead of shining, we often shun!…losing the focus of God’s love, when we reject those in whose lives we find error.

The Christ-follower’s reputation should be one that cooperates with God’s Big Picture purpose…saving sinners! We should be encouraging repentance and restoration. It is the Spirit of God who convicts and applies the work of the cross, but we have been given a responsibility too… to participate in communicating this precious gift of forgiveness…through our personal testimonies of living in His grace.

We can disagree with those who work in darkness…while still shining brightly the light of His love!

“You are the light of the world. A city set on a hill cannot be hidden. Nor do people light a lamp and put it under a basket, but on a stand, and it gives light to all in the house. In the same way, let your light shine before others, so that they may see your good works and give glory to your Father who is in heaven.” (Matthew 5:14-15/ESV)

The purpose of this blog is to encourage Christ-followers to see God’s Big Picture and be a part of it!
