Thumb on the Pulse

Washington politicians have their “thumbs on the pulse” of the American people…they understand us!

“Using your middle and index finger, gently feel for the radial artery inside the wrist. You will feel the radial pulse beating when you find it. Do not use your thumb to take the pulse, because it has a pulse of its own.”

The preceeding is instruction for taking an accurate pulse…notice the “do not use your thumb”…it only identifies your own heart rate!

Washington feels its own “pulse”…it is blind to the people’s needs.

An example…not one Democrat in Congress is standing against the Affordable Care Act…it is also a rare Republican that stands really strong.

One “really strong stand” began last night…and into today. Texas Senator Ted Cruz is making a unique effort against Obamacare. He is being assisted by just a handful of Republican Senators…Lee, Paul, Amash, Rubio, Inhofe, and Enzi. These men have a rare and clear understanding of the people’s needs. They have accurately taken the pulse of the people…listened to our outcries, seen the real life consequences of bad government policies…and committed themselves to an effort that puts them at odds within their own political party. Earlier this year Senator John McCain rewarded these brave men with the label “Wacko-birds!”

Today, Republicans and “conservative” media will continue name-calling and nay-saying the efforts of these men. The Senate will vote on the “defunding” bill sent from the House, and it will be defeated with “No” votes by 100% of the Democrats.

Who is taking your “pulse?” Most likely it’s one of these…using their clumbsy thumbs!

“Take care, brothers, lest there be in any of you an evil, unbelieving heart, leading you to fall away from the living God. But exhort one another every day, as long as it is called ‘today,’ that none of you may be hardened by the deceitfulness of sin.” (Hebrews 3:12-13/ESV)

The purpose of this blog is to encourage Christ-followers to see God’s Big Picture and be a part of it.
