The Senate and the House continue fighting today over the funding of Obamacare. The motivation of this legislation is misunderstood, because of the worldview, held by too many…which says, “Government cares about you.”
Government does not care!
This week Breaking Bad ended its five season-run. The main character, Walter White, a chemistry genius with incurable cancer, stumbled upon an opportunity to provide for his family producing Methamphetamine. His worldview devolved, as he began to benefit financially from the unlawful. Initial intentions changed from good to evil in a short time.
Once a man who genuinely cared for his family, Walter’s changing worldview fueled choices that would hurt them. These choices became reasonable to him…in light of the projected “good” outcome. Walter’s cancer went into remission…he didn’t die as expected. He had time to make even more choices, all based on the degrading condition of his worldview.
I stopped watching the Series after the third season, because the producers were obviously never going to “redeem” Walter. In the finale my expectation was realized…Walter dies violently and his family members were left alone and destitute!
A faulty worldview entices the ignorant and covetous, who are vulnerable to lies.
Our President shares this type of worldview with many in Congress. It enables them to promote bad policies. When these are implemented it is the vulnerable who are the first, and most adversely affected.
There is just one accurate worldview, based on the pure motivations of its Creator. He has given us instructions for living in His world. If we obey we prosper. When we disobey we suffer the consequences and find ourselves in a world with an unacceptable view.
“Keep this Book of the Law always on your lips; meditate on it day and night, so that you may be careful to do everything written in it. Then you will be prosperous and successful.” (Joshua 1:8/NIV)
