Grand Rapids, Michigan is home to the very young, only five years old, but already largest Art Contest in the world.
“Art Prize” is open to all. All are welcome, to enter their own art, and the normally restricted venues…to enjoy paintings, sculpture, photography, film, interactive productions, and much more.
Last night the winners were announced…a meticulously handmade, shredded-technique quilt, of the Lake Michigan shoreline at Sleeping Bear Dunes, won the Grand Prize. I agreed with that choice…it was the people’s choice!
Before the Grand Prize winner was announced we were subjected to the expert’s opinions. In general, they expressed their dismay over the public’s “tastes.” The art critic’s choices were far more “enlightened”…messy, meaningless, or manipulative, is how I’d classify most of the expert’s picks.
Our local Art Prize coincided with the stalemate in Washington. Democrats are expressing disgust with Ted Cruz, the “people’s choice” in Congress. As this government shut-down drags on, it is becoming evident that these Liberals have a deep disdain, disrespect, and genuine dislike for us.
This present struggle is clarifying…the “ugliness” of liberalism and the “beauty” of Ted Cruz and the Tea Party members of Congress. They may be shredded personally and professionally as they challenge the powers that be.
I support their efforts, and hope they stand strong until the President and his Party release this nation from the “Unaffordable Care Act.” The people are speaking…and they do not want Obamacare!
