As a young teen I found myself forced occasionally to fight, in defense of myself or others. My dear husband fought his way though an inner-city Public School…finally being expelled. Neither of us enjoys fighting, not then or now.
For us, the days of punching-fists and hair-pulling are long past. But the calls for battle seem more frequent than ever.
Numerous “Truth Wars” have recently presented themselves. In politics, religion, and family, the need for truth is critical. Political contentions are a piece of cake when compared to battles within the other two. It’s much harder to take a stand when the deceivers are friends or family.
Opportunities to deliver truth are rare, and can seem very much like a physical battle in a never ending war. It is exhausting to defend and contend…but absolutely necessary if there is to be any hope for those enslaved by lies.
If you are a truth warrior, be encouraged. You are not alone. Others understand how you patiently wait for an opportunity to “fight.” Your heart of compassion, for those hurt by lies, will be rewarded if you stay until the battle is won…because Truth wars!
“…preach the word; be ready in season and out of season; reprove, rebuke, and exhort, with complete patience and teaching. For the time is coming when people will not endure sound teaching, but having itching ears they will accumulate for themselves teachers to suit their own passions, and will turn away from listening to the truth and wander off into myths. As for you, always be sober-minded, endure suffering…” (2 Timothy 4:2-5/ESV)
The purpose of this blog is to encourage Christ-followers to see God’s Big Picture and be a part of it.
