To quit, or not to quit…that can be a tough question.
Backing out is rarely the wisest move. At other times a “temporary-quit” may be called for…allowing time for a regrouping.
I don’t like to quit…ever! It’s not in my DNA to give up, in, or out. I credit my father with this…and choose to interprete it as a positive trait.
After a recent challenge, I told my assistant coach that anything worth doing is vulnerable to attack. The only way to stay free from attacks is to run away from all challenges. Though it would be nice to avoid troubles, it is not reasonable to expect, if you are involved in good things.
Regret is the reward for those who give up too soon. Whether it is a season of coaching, a relationship, an international adoption, or a health challenge…do not quit!
There may indeed be times to step back for reassessment, but you should realize that regret is always waiting in the shadows…and it is much more difficult to live with than the original challenge ever could have been!
