Get Walking

By: Susan Bea Good

When my last child was a baby I walked a few times each week while pushing her in a stroller. The exercise was invigorating, and as a forty-something new mom I needed that! I’d like to start again on that walking-habit…maybe this spring.

These days it’s widely accepted that just an hour of vigorous walking is beneficial for the cardiovascular system. It would be good if more of us would walk.

This weekend’s Grammy Awards revealed others that might also want to consider walking. I suggest that true Christians at these events might not remain in their seats when Katy Perry portrays a witch being burned by moralizers…followed by Madonna officiating over the marriage ceremony for dozens of same-lovers, and Beyonce shaking her personal parts for husband JayZ and 28 million strangers worldwide.

Then there’s the world of political entertainment. Some are calling for true Conservatives to walk out of the State of the Union speech tonight, if Obama starts his, “I’ve got a pen and a phone (that I’ll use to continue crushing the Constitution)” routine.

I didn’t see the Grammys on Sunday, but I’ll be watching Washington tonight, because I still have hope that Conservative Christians are willing to lead, and sometimes walk out!

“I will take my stand at my watchpost
and station myself on the tower,
and look out to see what He will say to me…” (Habakuk 2:1/ESV)

The purpose of this blog is to encourage Christ-followers to see God’s Big Picture and be a part of it.
