Technical Foul

By: Susan Bea Good

Last night, at an out-of-town basketball game, the opposition protested that their fast breaks were being broken by our full-court press. Their coach demanded a technical foul be called. Thankfully, the referees declined to charge us, and continued the game…apologizing afterwards, and acknowledging the confusion they had not taken steps to avoid at the onset.

The last five years have been especially challenging for Conservative Christians. While President Obama has run dozens of “fast-breaks” around the Constitution, Congress and the Courts seem paralyzed by a fear of the “technical foul.” They have failed to press back on this President…it seems there is no stopping him!

Too many are willing to wait on the 2016 elections, as the earliest hope to end this assault. Others are demanding accountability now!…that this President be held to the standard demanded by the Constitution…to operate within it!

There is hope that later this year we will elect a new kind of representative, the kind willing to press back! Just the suggestion of this level of defense terrifies most of our present “conservative” politicians.

A fresh directive from Erik Holder is to begin tomorrow…same-sex partners are being granted Federal benefits in all fifty states. “This is just the latest in a series of moves by the Obama administration, and in particular the Department of Justice, to undermine the authority and sovereignty of the states to make their own determinations regulating the institution of marriage,” said Brian Brown, president of the National Organization for Marriage.

It’s another fast-break…and Conservatives didn’t stop it. Waiting until 2016 is not the answer. If we continue allowing the offense through, we are going to lose the game!

“…press on toward the goal for the prize of the upward call of God in Christ Jesus.” (Philippians 3:14/ESV)

The purpose of this blog is to encourage Christ-followers to see God’s Big Picture and be a part of it.
