Beached

Pilot WhalesBy: Susan Bea Good

My parents winter in Florida, avoiding the dangers of the four most frigid Michigan months. Dad, who turns eighty this summer, still loves to get out on the ocean. No longer interested in deep sea fishing, now he “treasure hunts” with Mom.

This winter a pod of pilot whales beached themselves on the shores off Marco Island. My parents visit the site regularly, keeping watch over the process of decomposition. Mom really wanted to collect some of the skeletal parts, hoping to add the natural elements to her artistic sea-life creations. She hasn’t though, after discovering the illegality of even touching a pilot whale, whether dead or alive.

Biologists attempted to steer the weakened whales back out to sea, trying to save their lives. If only the pod leaders would have cooperated, the “family” would not have died.  It’s inexplicable why the leaders of these powerful whale-pods occasionally drive their own families to an early demise.

The National Republican leadership is currently driving its “family” to an early demise. True Conservatives are attempting to pull the Party away from the “beach.” Time is running low though…this fall is the indisputable deadline for change. If the Liberals in government are not stopped this year the end is certain for Conservative values, as well as our nation’s fiscal life. We will essentially begin the process of national-decomposition. And there won’t be anything left for the treasure hunters.

“…you should turn from these vain things to a living God, who made the heaven and the earth and the sea and all that is in them.” (Acts 14:15/ESV)

The purpose of this blog is to encourage Christ-followers to see God’s Big Picture view and be a part of it.
