50 Years for Ed and Milt

Same-Sex (Ed-Milt)By: Susan Bea Good

Fifty years ago Ed met Milt…they fell in love..and the rest is history!

This couple is rejoicing today that a judge has overturned the citizen’s ban on same-sex marriage. Michigan has become the 18th State to permit these legal unions in response to perverted cultural demand.

A comedian recently joked that instead of banning marriages, we should ban divorces! That would stop all of the grandstanding on gay-marriage. I’ve always been suspicious of the gay community’s claim that they long to make personal legal commitments. I just haven’t seen many same-sex couples motivated by genuine faithfulness to one another. It doesn’t seem that the goal of homosexuality is monogamy.

Yes, I know that traditional marriages aren’t doing well at their long-term commitments either, and divorce is far too easy to obtain in America. It’s damaging for our society when families break up. So instead of broadening the failure to include those who defy God’s prescription for healthy relationships, let’s improve on the original, by encouraging traditional families to stay together…seeing many more fifty year anniversaries!

“Therefore a man shall leave his father and his mother and hold fast to his wife, and the two shall become one flesh…So they are no longer two but one flesh. What therefore God has joined together, let not man separate.” (Matthew 19:4-6/ESV)

The purpose of this column is to encourage Christ-followers to see God’s Big Picture and be a part of it.
