Kicked to the Curb or Living in the Gutter?

GutterBy: Susan Bea Good

A responder to a recent news story about same-sex marriage offered a quip at the claim that homosexuals are unfairly rejected because of their sexuality. He wrote…”Gays haven’t been kicked to the curb, they just choose to live in the gutter!”

I really hate this topic, and would rather comment about almost anything else. Every blog I write regarding homosexuality induces an unpleasant cringe-factor that tempts me to be silent. I know many “gay” people, and do not relish their pain at reading comments like mine and others who oppose their life-choice. I know though that the topic must be faced and fought…for their sake as well as society’s.

Scripture predicts that biblical Romans 1 rebellion will mark the days just before Jesus’ return…when things on earth can get no worse! Homosexuality is one of the marks of that time, when there will be no more repentance…just judgment.

I am well aware that sexual sins are not the only ones that God hates. “Now the works of the flesh are evident: sexual immorality, impurity, sensuality, idolatry, sorcery, enmity, strife, jealousy, fits of anger, rivalries, dissensions, divisions, envy, drunkenness, orgies, and things like these. I warn you…those who do such things will not inherit the kingdom of God.” (Galatians 5:19-21/ESV)

Because of God’s clear warnings, and my commitment to share them with those who view my blogs, I can’t stop writing about the dangers of continued rebellion. And though my heart sympathizes with those who have adopted the habits of sin, when triggered by a news event, I will write again, warning my friends and others to stop rebelling. We each have just one life to live…after that, our choices will become eternal consequences.

“Flee from sexual immorality. Every other sin a person commits is outside the body, but the sexually immoral person sins against his own body. Or do you not know that your body is a temple of the Holy Spirit within you, whom you have from God? You are not your own…” (I Corinthians 6:18-19/ESV)

The purpose of this blog is to encourage Christ-followers to see God’s Big Picture and be a part of it.
