Proportionate Response?

Proportionate ResponseBy: Susan Bea Good

The anti-Semites of our time are calling for Israel to make a more “proportionate” response to the most recent weeks of almost non-stop Hamas rocket attacks coming from Gaza. In July alone over 2700 rockets were shot into Israel.

Israel’s Iron Dome has been used as a defensive measure. In addition strategic bombings have been a necessary offensive tool, to destroy Hamas’ strongholds and tunnels, used to kidnap and kill Israelis.

Obama representatives, such as Secretary of State John Kerry, as well as the United Nations, and many worldwide media outlets, suggest that, though Hamas is the aggressor, Israel must respond in a “proportionate” manner…essentially calling for Israel to stop defending itself so strongly!

Israel has already offered a morally-proportionate response. According to the Israeli Foreign Ministry, “Israel has sent into Gaza more than 4 million liters of diesel for a power station, 3 million liters of fuel and 800,000 liters of benzene for transportation, and 1.6 tons of gas for domestic use during the conflict.” in addition, “750 tons of food, medicine and supplies entered Gaza Wednesday from Israel.”

While Hamas seeks to destroy all Jews in the region, Israel is assisting Arabs who choose to live in peace. Hamas’ Charter document includes the goal of the complete annihilation of the Jewish people worldwide! Yet Israel continues to hold out opportunities for non-Jews to live and work within its borders.

This is the time to stand with Israel and the Jewish people…supporting the right to exist in their God-given land. The world may turn against her, but Israel will always be God’s land, and the Jews will always be His “Special Treasure!”

“For you are a holy people, who belong to the Lord your God. Of all the people on earth, the Lord your God has chosen you to be His own special treasure!” (Deuteronomy 7:6/ESV)

The purpose of this blog is to encourage Christ-followers to see God’s Big Picture and be a part of it.
