Back to School and Church

I can’t keep up with the NFL benching-expulsions. It seems that every morning there’s news of another player behaving badly. As expected, they are out the same day offering excuses. Besides the obvious: adultery-fornication, battery, drug abuse, murder, theft, illegal weapons, domestic violence, animal cruelty, and child endangerment offenses against these tough guys, I think many should also be charged with bad grammar!

Here is a portion of the transcript of a recent player’s interactions with one of his many “baby mommas,” regarding an incident of child abuse: “I felt so bad. But he did it his self…Be still n take ya whooping he would have saved the scare (scar). He aight (all right)”

These guys need to go back to elementary school! Their grammar is atrocious. No doubt on the football field they can run fast, block hard, and throw far, but they’re also practically illiterate.

A remedial year of third grade as well as Sundays in the front row of church services might change these football player’s inside and out!

Postscript: This morning MSNBC’s “News Nation” host interviewed Michael Eric Dyson, who offered this excuse for today’s Black athletes behaving badly…”slavery.” That’s right, it’s the white man’s fault! Because of the historical slave owner’s mistreatment, today’s Blacks (men, women, teens, children) are beating family members, friends, and strangers. And why?…to “protect” them, keeping them humbled, so that they won’t attract the attention of authorities (police) who might kill them just for being uppity!

“Sow for yourselves righteousness; reap steadfast love; break up your fallow ground, for it is the time to seek the Lord, that He may come and rain righteousness upon you.” (Hosea 10:12/ESV)

The purpose of this blog is to encourage Christ-followers to see God’s Big Picture and be a part of it.
