Days before the last presidential election I had an “on-the-street” conversation with a black man about the President’s race. The man on the street made the claim that this was “his president” because of their apparently shared racial heritage. I immediately made the point that Barak Obama was not a “black” president. In fact, he was equally as much a “white” Commander in Chief. My comment was not received well, and I was warned to “get off the street before you get shot!”
Well, it’s a fact, of course, that Barry Soetoro (AKA Barak Hussein Obama) had a white American mother and a black Kenyan father. That makes our President bi-racial.
OK, enough talk of the color of one’s skin. As MLK once said, (paraphrased)…let’s not judge by that, but instead let a man be judged by his character, which HAS NO COLOR!
Today America awoke to War! And, as painful as it is to face, our bi-racial President will be with us through the next few years. His track record for follow-through is bad, and if he fails to finish this particular fight, our nation, and the world, will suffer for a generation. Our only hope is that this President adjusts the “color” of his character.
Obama won two presidential elections by suggesting bigotry to one of his racial components. His ethnic bias claims have been problematic for this nation, as race relations between blacks and everyone else have worsened. Wouldn’t it be ironic if this “Black vs. White” leader went out “Grey?”
Grey is a moderate color, easier to live with than the stark extremes of either black or white. Grey’s impression is reasonable. This President may find himself unable to avoid altering his approaches on pressing issues. Pressed by literally life and death consequences, from ISIS to Ebola, this American “leader from behind” might be forced into reasonableness!
If President Barak Obama finishes out his last two years in office, he may change before our very eyes. Unless he resigns (no chance of that) he may be forced to go out Grey…moderating his policies on social issues, foreign affairs, and economics. The foolishness of a Black vs. White world can only be afforded in peace times. Today’s world cannot afford anything but a reasonable Grey.
