Gun season is fast approaching in Michigan. November fifteen is almost a sacred day here…set apart for the opening of a two week gun deer-hunting season. Many members of my family, including my daughters, will be in the woods before dawn on the fifteenth. All hunters hope to shoot the “big one.” Competition is friendly and sometimes fierce, but the blow-by-blow after-stories are always entertaining. Our family subscribes to a policy that only big bucks are to be taken. We don’t shoot young bucks or the does. These are protected for herd growth…not all game is “fair!”
Texas has recently become a prime “hunting” ground for another kind of “game.” Liberal politicians in Houston are looking to trap and destroy Christians! Currently, five evangelical pastors, who dare to preach the Bible on hot social topics, are being threatened with legal action. All communications, surrounding God’s pronouncements against the practice of homosexual behavior, are being targeted with subpoenas for the purpose of intimidation through possible State prosecution.
An October 15 tweet from Houston Mayor Annise Parker, revealed her intent to shoot down religious leaders standing for biblical principles.”If the 5 pastors used pulpits for politics, their sermons are fair game…”— Annise Parker (@AnniseParker)
The Houston City Council, currently headed by the anti-First Amendment lesbian Ms. Parker, is demanding copies of the pastors’ sermons on the topics of “equal rights, civil rights, homosexuality, or gender identity.” Also demanded are all documents including emails, instant messages, and text messages that are perceived to share a negative view on the perverted practices of the homosexual community.
Houston has a problem. But problems are also growth opportunities. I pray that the pastors being attacked today will continue to stand strong, and be joined by thousands of other pastors and Christians that love God’s Word… refusing to be silenced!
“We destroy arguments and every lofty opinion raised against the knowledge of God, and take every thought captive to obey Christ…” (2 Corinthians 10:5/ESV)
The purpose of this blog is to encourage Christ-followers to see God’s Big Picture and be a part of it.
