Rights Vs. Responsibilities

thBy: Susan Bea Good

The mid-term elections are just ten days away. This November fourth has the expectation to be a hope-or-horror day. Which one, depends on your political preference. Liberals anticipate a horrible day, while Conservatives have hope that our nation may begin to reverse its downward slide.

This is the season when the selfish come out of their dark holes and vote for “what’s in it for me!” This election has been filled with voter’s rights language coming from the Left…whose true concerns run no deeper than themselves, and what the next election may eliminate from the government’s budget. Their hearts seem filled with greed and selfishness, as they demand their “rights!”

This exceptional nation was founded upon sacrifice. “Rights” then were described as unalienable and universal…genuine equal human rights- to life, liberty, and the pursuit of happiness.

Responsibility has always been carried by few, and rarely even acknowledged by most. Civilizations have risen and fallen based upon this balance. When the number of “rights-demanders” reaches a tipping point, they will overpower the “responsible-sacrificers.”

If you have been a rights-demander, you can change! Responsible living is the only method for obtaining true freedom and success. The selfish will always be lacking in character, opportunity, and material substance. Even worse, their children become lost in the world of dependency created by their own parent’s votes.

If you are a responsible citizen, do not lose hope. God will bless you and your children for looking outward in all that you do. Your votes have the power to bless a nation. Do not withhold them.

“For the one who sows to his own flesh will from the flesh reap corruption, but the one who sows to the Spirit will from the Spirit reap eternal life.” (Galatians 6:8/ESV)

The purpose of this blog is to encourage Christ-followers to see God’s Big Picture and be a part of it.
