Since 1973 in the US, an estimated thirteen million black babies have been delivered by their black mothers to death by abortion. Add to that number the many thousands of Black-on-Black murders in this nation annually, plus the 75% out-of-wedlock birthrate for black children, and it seems to me that someone isn’t valuing black lives!
“Black Lives Matter” is appearing on protest signs all over the country, wherever societal hustlers are lighting flames of racial hatred. Though blame is insinuated far and wide, in practical reality it is the black community that does not value black life!
My teenage daughter and I recently participated in a silent protest in front of an abortion clinic in our city. We observed that the overwhelming majority were black women arriving for “services.” It was an eye-opener for us to witness the casual nature of those delivering their unborn babies into the hands of killers…as if black babies were of no value at all!
Last week’s Ferguson riots displayed another example of the self-devaluing of the black community, as most of the physical damage done to the city hurt black business owners the worst. The shops destroyed by black men and women will not be able to employ or serve black men and women. Furthermore, the representatives of this self-destroyed community seem intent on importing their failure throughout the country.
A people group who in high percentages, kills their own unborn, abuses their living children, and neglects healthy behaviors like marriage, sobriety, and industriousness, is not going to receive respect among the larger society. This pronouncement of “no value” is most tragic, because it is self-assessed!
The remedy for this problem requires a revival, starting with black pastors, who have been contributing to the downward spiral of their race, all for profit and power. Whites have little to contribute to this remedy. Our assessments are easily labeled racist, and our “cures” insensitive.
So, to the black community, especially those who call on Christ as Lord, revive yourselves! It’s as simple as being honest, and putting away the blame-shifting. You’ll have to find the way to do your own re-assessing, if you’re ever going to become a high valued culture.
“Put on then, as God’s chosen ones, holy and beloved, compassionate hearts, kindness, humility, meekness, and patience, bearing with one another and, if one has a complaint against another, forgiving each other; as the Lord has forgiven you, so you also must forgive. And above all these put on love, which binds everything together in perfect harmony.” (Colossians 3:12-14/ESV)
