Though my Muslim “friend” Bushra says it’s impossible, Islamists are converting to Christianity each day. The Spirit of the living God is doing this work! How are Christ-followers to be a part of that?…screaming at Muslims, disrupting their meetings, and using harsh and unloving methods to “persuade” the ungodly to come to our Christ?
Kind of reminds me of the Westboro people. I won’t call them “Baptist”…I’m a member of that denomination, and those cowards are not associated with me!
I have a strong dislike of Islam, but I will separate the persons (created in God’s image) from the paganism. The Islamist is included in the “God so loved the world” promise given by Jesus, and recorded in John’s Gospel. It must be true that God loves the Muslim!
Therefore it is also true that God changes Muslim hearts, drawing some to His Son Jesus Christ. Does He do this through the antics of “Christians” who spew hatred? There is a very fine line between brave confidence and stupid bravado. It’s easy to cross that line when you are being cheered on by misguided haters.
I believe that God has led me to “speak out” on hard topics, such as homosexuality, abortion, and Islam. However, He has never directed me to hate anyone! I admit that I have been tempted to go in that direction with my fervor. But thanks to God, He has kept me safe thus far! Oh, and you may disagree that I have indeed stayed on His side of the line…if you read my blogs you may find my expressions to be too judgmental, and therefore wrong. I can only say that I sincerely try to keep my motives pure, and communicate the love of God in as clear and loving a manner as possible.
If you are a Christ-follower who is challenged by your position between here and eternity, I urge you to follow Jesus’ example. He exemplified “truth in love”…which rarely expressed itself in violence!
“When He has brought out all his own, He goes before them, and the sheep follow Him, for they know His voice….And in the last days it shall be, God declares, that I will pour out my Spirit on all flesh…” (John 10:4: Acts 2:17/ESV)
The purpose of this blog is to encourage Christ-followers to see God’s Big Picture and be a part of it.
