Tough Guys Love God Too!

Brian Klawiter

By: Susan Bea Good

“I love each of you, but it sucks what you’re doing!” is Brian Klawiter’s message to those in our culture who promote evil and call it good.

Brian walks his talk. He’s a humble man, husband, and father who tries to follow the teachings of Jesus Christ. The owner of Dieseltec in Grandville, Michigan, he’s also an outspoken American Constitutionalist. For him hypocrisy is not an option. Last week Brian announced his intention to refuse his professional services to any “obviously homosexual” customers. For exercising his Constitutional and religious rights of association, free speech, and “truth in love” he has received property vandalism, personal death threats, and public scorn.

Brian’s heart is being judged in the Press by those who want to portray him as a bigoted homophobe. This type of bullying is not surprising coming from the homosexual community. What is surprising is when the Christian community chimes in, rendering a hasty judgment on Brian’s actions, saying, “It’s a sin to say you won’t fix the car of a person just because he is gay.”

Brian’s deeply felt convictions on the matter of masculinity are understood when he shares of his own childhood, and the challenges he faced in finding a healthy male role model. Boys need fathers who are strong examples of both manliness and godliness. Our society is shamed when we bow to the demands of effeminate godless men.

Too often even the church presents “soft” men who spend all their time in books, and don’t know how to work with their hands. These role models communicate a disdain for real masculinity. Kind of reminds me of the contrast between the meek Clark Kent and the competent Superman. What young boy doesn’t admire and aspire to become the strong hero?

We need more Christ-followers like Brian Klawiter, who will declare “I stand firm on my views and will not back down!”

“Be watchful, stand firm in the faith, act like men, be strong. Let all that you do be done in love.” (I Corinthians 16:13-14/ESV)

The purpose of this blog is to encourage Christ-followers to see God’s Big Picture and be a part of it. Adonai Eloheinu!

Do you think Jesus would have done that when he was a carpenter, SBG?
