I believe the 19 Kids and Counting clan is about to grow. No, I’m not aware of another Michelle Duggar pregnancy…their opportunities as Christ-followers are growing.
It has been revealed that the Duggar’s first born son hurt many of his sisters when he was a young teenager. This week’s illegal revelation of a juvenile record has caused the now 27 year old Joshua Duggar, his wife Anna, his parents Jim and Michelle, his grandmother, and all of his siblings an additional deep sorrow.
Previously the Duggars have been famous for not using birth control, home schooling their 19 children, practicing a biblical marriage relationship, and following the failed leader Bill Gothard (That last one is a sore spot for me personally).
Today the Duggars are famous for having a son who molested their daughters, and for possibly not finding competent counsel for their children after the fact.
This information is received by many as an invitation to tear the family to shreds. I however believe it is actually a providential opportunity to broaden their ministry to those who struggle with sin and its effects.
Everyone struggles with sin and its effects! But only a few are willing to share their own suffering with sin to benefit the body of Christ.
This is no time to retreat! Instead this is an opportunity to strongly testify of the grace, forgiveness, cleansing, and restoration available to those who love Jesus.
One comment on the previously linked media story of this revelation said it best, “Perhaps some of you should be reminded that God’s grace is extended even to the filthiest sinner, the murderer, the thief, the sex abuser, the homosexual, the liar, the adulterer. Your most good behavior and saintly acts are but filthy rags in the sight of God. That’s what Jesus came to do by His own blood to make us clean. When we trust Him those sins are under the blood. Who are you to continue to condemn this man if it’s under the blood of Jesus?!” (James Scott)
“If we confess our sins, He is faithful and just to forgive us our sins and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness.” (I John 1:9/ESV)
The purpose of this blog is to encourage Christ-followers to see God’s Big Picture and be a part of it. Adonai Eloheinu!
