A Second Bowl Of Meat

Bowl of Meat

By: Susan Bea Good

This second edition in the “Bowl of Meat” series is incited by an always hungry grandson, who loves meat! My analogical purpose for sharing his excessive carne-consumption is to expound on timely (in my world) biblical truths. So, here’s another bowl of meat.

Perceived “ghostly encounters” must be attributed either to the spirits of the dead, the activity of angelic beings, or the work of God’s Spirit. Since the Bible declares that “absent from the body is present with the Lord” (for believers) and Sheol (for unbelievers), it’s not possible for the yet living to interact with the spirits of the deceased. So, that leaves angelic beings or God’s Spirit.

God tells us in His Word that He created angels to do His will. Lucifer, a magnificent angel, was expelled from heaven for his rebellion. AKA: the Devil, Satan, Beelzebub, he is now known as the angel of light, the deceiver, the father of lies. And he is not alone in his rebellion against God. The Bible indicates that perhaps half of all angels followed Lucifer out of heaven in the great revolt against the Creator.

The work of fallen angels is to deceive, disarm, distract, and destroy all who might look to God for salvation. What type of messages would you imagine such evil characters would be sharing with vulnerable humans?… “Don’t fret about spiritual things, trust in your own ‘goodness’…you will have nothing to fear after death.”

In fact, quite the opposite is true about our species…as Scripture describes, “there are none righteous, no not one!” It is not possible that messages of our inherent ‘goodness’ are from the Creator. These are lies, meant to deter us from truth until the time that we drop into Hell.

Oh, but you argue, the possibility of visits from deceased loved ones, and vivid accounts of heavenly transports are so lovely and comforting. And they are lies.

Only God has good intended for you. Only He convicts of sin, and speaks the truth that can save you. His angels do not deliver messages contradicting His Word, nor do they involve themselves in activities that distract us from God’s purpose.

The truth of God’s plan is so much more fantastic than the lies of Satan. Why follow his word, when you can follow His?

“Lead me in Your truth and teach me, for You are the God of my salvation; for You I wait all the day long.” (Psalm 25:5/ESV)

The purpose of this blog is to encourage Christ-followers to see God’s Big Picture and be a part of it. Adonai Eloheinu!
