The Badger’s Lookin’ for a Shave Tonight

By: Susan Bea Good

A while ago I came across a political poster decrying the agony many of us feel when listening to President Barak Obama’s speeches. The visual was of an angry badger, and the caption indicated that it would be less painful to attempt to shave the animal down under than to listen to a POTUS speech from beginning to end.

Obama’s press conferences are bad enough. At least at those he’s asked a few questions by reporters, and his selfish droning is cut a bit shorter than usual. It’s the prepared speeches, especially tonight’s State of the Union, that are particularly grating.

I remember a few years ago when a freshman Congressman named Joe Wilson didn’t control his revulsion at being faced with a flood of falsehoods dumped on America at that year’s SOTU address. When the Representative shouted from the gallery- “You lie!”-  many attempted to shame him, that is Wilson, for telling the truth about a liar. But more were pleased that someone had the guts to call out a President who shamelessly deceives the people of America.

I will attempt to listen to President Obama tonight. I expect to hear that our economy is growing, employment is up, guns are bad, illegal immigrants are pure souls, global warming is destroying the world, gay marriage is healthy, Christians are troublesome, and Islam is a religion of peace.

“Arrogant lips are unsuited to a fool, how much worse lying lips to a ruler!” (Proverbs 17:7/ESV)

This blogger’s purpose is to encourage Christ-followers to see God’s Big Picture and be a part of it. Adonai Eloheinu!
