“Shadrach, Meshach, and Abednego answered and said to the king, ‘O Nebuchadnezzar, we have no need to answer you in this matter. If this be so, our God whom we serve is able to deliver us from the burning fiery furnace, and He will deliver us out of your hand, O king. But if not, be it known to you, O king, that we will not serve your gods or worship the golden image that you have set up.’” (Daniel 3:16-18/ESV)
This election season has often led me into “nothing left to say” territory. I still read every day and share links to well written pieces on our voting options and how they may fit into God’s Big Picture. The reactions I am receiving from Facebook friends and some family is astounding. Late last night I received a comment to a piece I linked from Erick Erickson on the Resurgent. “Bless her heart,” this friend removed her comment before I could copy it this morning to place verbatim in this blog. Her accusation of “hater” was clear!
“Bless your heart” was used on me as a passive aggressive head-pat this summer. I have decided to adopt that comment as the perfect response to accusers. When my carefully chosen links to well written, thoughtful, fair, and biblical arguments to today’s challenges are met with accusations that I am a hater, my response will be “Bless your heart!”
For those of you in my circle of life who are agitated, angry, and have even gone so far as to reject me because I have publicly stated my objections to voting for a man like Donald Trump, let me make this clear. If Hillary Clinton is still breathing on November 8 she will be the winner of the contest and elected as President of our nation. This terrible truth is not because she has earned the win but because you have put forth the worst possible challenger. Those most responsible for a President Clinton voted for Trump in the primaries. For others who joined Trump’s train ride to destruction at a later date I have only pity for you. I know many of you in that later category say you have no choice now…but you do!
There is never a right time to join into an evil alliance. There is never a situation requiring us to participate in godlessness disguised as God’s will! It is not God’s will that His people lose faith and surrender.
So, for any who have chosen to take this personally…bless your hearts! I know mine is blessed, and I can only hope that you realize the truth about these times before you commit your vote to evil- because regret is a merciless companion.
